Mike and Morgan // The Vineyard at 37 High Holly

This was by far one of my all time favorite weddings for so many reasons. After photographing Mike and Morgan's brewery themed engagement session almost a year earlier, I knew they were the kind of couple that would uniquely weave their personalities into their special day. Mike is originally from Bermuda, so he had his groomsmen dressed in traditional island wedding attire, Bermuda shorts and all, even though it was a Fall wedding! Morgan's dress was probably the most the most fashionable I have seen to date, with a beautiful open back that would turn heads on any red carpet. The day was classy but yet fun and loose. Even though the reception decorations looked like something out of magazine, the couple rented llama's to hang out with them and their guests during the ceremony. Yes, llama's! Go ahead and add that to your "must have at my wedding" list!

And it just gets better. The groom shed tears during their first look. The band looked and sounded like they could headline a music festival. The couple crowd surfed. A sparkler exit, and then FIREWORKS! Yes, the kind of fireworks you think only weddings in movies have. It was that kind of wedding. Mike and Morgan, thanks so much for having me there to document it all. You just set the bar really high!

Lauren and Justin // Highland Brewing Wedding

When in Asheville, marry like an Ashevillian. What better place than a brewery? Lauren and Justin are huge home brewers in Raleigh and love to visit our great beer scene here in the mountains, so when it came time to choose a wedding venue, it only made sense to tie the knot at Asheville's very own Highland Brewery. Their affection for great beer was woven all throughout their day, using old growlers as vases in their place settings, giving out their own special blend of home brew as wedding favors, and even mixing barley and hops together to "become one" during their ceremony. Seeing as how their new married last name is Fox, they even had two little foxes as their cake topper. It's been a while since I've seen a couple bring in so much of their personality into their wedding, so I really enjoyed this one! Congrats you two! Next time the beer is on me!

Francie and Hall // Wildcat Cliffs Country Club Wedding

Two words: Tear. Jerk. Er. If there was ever a wedding I shot this year that had me on the brink of tears, this was it. This day had all the ingredients of a fairy tale wedding...a princess bride, beautiful scenery, tears of joy, a first look on the brink of a cliff, and a love that was undeniable. Francie and Hall met at a friend's wedding 6 years ago, little did they know someday they would be planning their own! After shooting this couple's engagement session with their sweet dog Sam earlier this Spring, this is one I had been looking forward to all year. It certainly didn't disappoint! Congrats you two!!!

Alli and Kevin // The Vanlandingham Estate Wedding

I am so excited to finally be sharing this wedding on my blog. This wedding had so many factors that just made it so much fun to shoot! Aside from working with a really awesome couple, Alli and Kevin, we had a first look, fathers that cry, a beautiful venue, and a grand exit in a pedicab! Does it really get much better than that?!? Warning: This blog post is much no longer than my usual post, there were just too many good pictures to choose from!

Mike and Morgan // Downtown Asheville and Breweries Engagement Session

Mike and Morgan are from Los Angeles, but will be getting married in WNC later this Fall. As much as I would have loved to visit LA, they stopped through Asheville over the holidays giving us the perfect opportunity to fit in an engagement shoot. It was a blistery, windy day here in Asheville (20° temperatures) and I was nervous that these two Californians were going to be too cold to enjoy themselves. But, the cold actually worked to our advantage because they were forced to stay close to stay warm! Plus, it gave us the perfect excuse to do what everyone in Asheville does on blistery Winter days, head into a brewery (or two)!

Will and Aubrey // Biltmore Estate Engagement Session

Will and Aubrey were so much fun to work with! After meeting for tacos and beer one evening to discuss their big day, I knew we were a match. They both work in the medical field, and met one afternoon when some coworkers invited them both to come along skeet shooting with them (how cool is that for a first date?) Just two years later, Will proposed at one of their favorite date spots which also just happens to be one of the most beautiful places around, The Biltmore Estate! Because the Biltmore has had such a special place in their relationship, it only made sense to have their engagement session there. We got lucky and got one of those "just before Fall hits" sunsets. It was nothing short of magical :-)

Dre and Tony // Charlotte's NoDa District Engagement Shoot

Man, Charlotte's changed a lot. This is not the Queen City that quelled the boredom of my teenage years growing up in a small town near by. In fact, the NoDa arts district, where Dre and Tony live reminds me much more of my adopted hometown of Asheville than it does the Charlotte of yesteryear. Full of colorful murals, music venues, local breweries, and abandoned railroad tracks, it provided the perfect backdrop for this urban engagement shoot. Plus, I really enjoyed the thrill of shooting on a not so abandoned railroad track to get a perfect shot of the uptown skyline!

Deanna and Austin // Beautiful Asheville Mountain Wedding at Laughing Waters Retreat

This wedding was such a joy to shoot I don't even know where to begin. There's just something magical in the air at the beautiful Laughing Waters Retreat, one of the area's newest wedding and event centers nestled in the Hickory Nut Gorge just outside of Asheville. Bride and Groom Deanna and Austin chose this venue for it's natural beauty, and the beautiful waterfalls on the property, combined with hiking trails, an old rustic bridge and an apple orchard made the perfect backdrop for a beautiful mountain wedding. Austin works as a nurse, so the couple cleverly worked the theme #DNA (Deanna and Austin) throughout their wedding decorations. This couple's love for each other was infectious, and photographing them giddily running through the woods together on their wedding day felt like a scene right out of a fairy tale.

Marileigh and Drew // Asheville Engagement Shoot with their Dog Bo!

Marileigh and Drew live in Atlanta, but decided to get married in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina this fall. When it came time to do their engagement photos earlier this year, they said they wanted open spaces, mountains, and a rustic feel. I was so excited to find the perfect spot right outside of Asheville. As if two great people in a beautiful setting wasn't enough, I was even more excited when they showed up with their labradoodle, Bo, doggie bow tie and all!
