Courtney and Bobby // The Cliffs at Walnut Cove Wedding

Courtney and Bobby Davis's love story is one of those that just reminds you how precious and innocent love can be, and that we often find it when we are least expecting it. Courtney is from the small mountain town of Mars Hill, just north of Asheville, and Bobby is from Virginia. The two first met in pharmacy school at ETSU, and although Bobby had a crush on Courtney, he never quite managed to find a way to ask her on a date outside of "group work." Chance would have it that after graduation they both found employment as pharmacists in the Asheville area. Chance would also have it that after graduation there is one last hurdle to becoming a licensed pharmacist, the MPJE, or in layman's terms, the equivalent of the bar for aspiring lawyers. An email chain to discuss study materials transpired between several old classmates, and before you knew it, Courtney and Bobby had exchanged phone numbers. After meeting Courtney in a parking lot to lend her a study guide, Bobby said he was immediately reminded of how "lovely she was," and proceeded to finally muster up the courage to ask her on a date. The rest as they say, is history.

The wedding took place in the beautiful mountains of the The Cliffs of Walnut Cove, and although rain forced the couple to change their plans and have their ceremony under a tent, they were both so excited that their day was finally here they barely even seemed to notice. We were also lucky that the rain held off long enough for us to get some great outdoor shots, with and without an umbrella.

The couple decided to do a "first look," where couples see each other in their wedding attire for the first time privately before the actual ceremony. This is one of those moments where as a wedding photographer, you realize just how special your job truly is. Being the only person invited to witness that moment, and being trusted to document it with your camera, is truly an honor.

After the first dance, Bobby managed to outdo his surprise proposal with a solo performance of an original song he had written about Courtney. Admitting to everyone that he was no musician and scared to perform in public, he also revealed that he had secretly been taking guitar lessons to prepare. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable moment, not only for Courtney and Bobby, but for everyone there that night.
